A research study on vehicle safety for pregnant mothers
A collaboration between UVA's Center for Applied Biomechanics and UVA's Public Health Sciences
What You Need to KnowSeat belts protect against serious injuries following a car crash and are safe to wear during pregnancy. In this study, we want to observe how pregnant persons wear their seat belts in their own car. We hope to find out if the seat belts, that are designed for the general population, fit pregnant persons in recommended ways so that they can be protective. Our work can help educate pregnant persons on the best ways to wear a seat belt and can help improve seat belt design in the future.
